Sounds fine but make sure the file is set up correctly also. A reasonably
large number of items in the WWSTATE file is sometimes OK and file sizing is
important.
What were the ANALYZE.FILE results.

Tricky! - I've been caught out like this before.
You are extracting SEARCH.VALUE from DESC.LIST as an attribute. Try
extracting values instead and I suspect all will be fine.
SEARCH.VALUE = DESC.LIST1,PLC

Thank you Will but I consider A = 1 to be an assignment of the number 1
being the result of expression 1 which in my books is numeric.
To clarify this point for others...
anything on the right hand side of an assignment symbol (in this case =)
is an expression

and as such can by typed numeric to speed the
mathematics whereas dynamic arrays in this situation are always storing the
data as a string so conversions are carried out before and after each
mathematical accumulation.
Hope this has been of interest to some.

Have you sized your UV file correctly? The 15-20 seconds suggests many
things are not as they should be.
Can you do an ANALYZE.FILE on this file and post the details. If it is a
dynamic hashed file include the option STATS please.
We may be able to help you after all.
Cheers
Trevor
this machine correctly as 15-20
second search times seems excessive to me.
However, it is up to you whether or not you provide the ANALYZE.FILE results
or not but it may help other list members if we were to pursue it.
Best of luck

Use an I-type dictionary as follows:
0001: I
0002: F1:@TM:F10
0003:
0004: Whatever
0005: 30T
0006: S
If the contents of either F1 or F10 they will wrap appropriately.
I find I-types to be s much easier as a programmer.
