In support of paying for your "support". I have been both an end-user and a var and with the benefit of experience and hindsight I can only say that paying for your support of UV is both fair and reasonable.
In some cases it can be argued that it is not necessary but think of it as insurance. If you don't need it then you are lucky but if you do then at least that is one hurdle you do not have to jump in getting things sorted out. I have had clients that have taken the "cheap" way out only to pay more when they needed it. Not to mention the cost of time lost. My AU$0.02 worth!
