1Mb camera photo to, say 100kb. The facility to modify the image file
name as well was useful.

in 14.04 LTS that I am using, although a search on the Internet states
that it was in Lucid 10.04. There are other such tools, one of which I
have for Windows. However I would like one for Linux. Does 14.10 have
something else that will do the job?

present I intend to pursue Telstra for an answer, rather than let them

I have upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 stepwise through intermediate
upgrades. Now I find that my Canon iP4200 printer will not respond to
data sent by Ubuntu. The iP4200 has always responded previously (since
9.04) although never properly in colour (I must switch to MS XP). The
next printer that I bu

pertinent. I have a second (old) PC which I use a little in my study
which has Ubuntu and Windows XP on separate drives. So I will go through
the ISO route for that PC at least. ISO files will be downloaded using
my new PC.

I've been using Ubuntu now for over two years. I think it's about time I
supported Ubuntu with a donation. The question is: Who should receive
it? Canonical would seem to be an obvious choice, or are they adequately
funded?

Further to my initial message I have installed from Ubuntu's software
centre, SPE (Stani's Python Editor). This suggests that Terminal is the
simplest vehicle for the Python tutorial rather than using, or trying to
use, a specific editor.

Thanks Matthew. Such pre-packaged software is indeed of interest, as I
am unlikely to get deeply into programming. The module's reference
manual says "AVR Freaks is an essential site to visit". I haven't
reached the stage of investigating this material. I have, in the last

I moved the ousb executable into my home directory as you have corrected
me (thank you). I then tried your instruction "chmod etc" with no
effect.
So I typed simply "./ousb" (as was the designer's instruction) and
bingo! up came the Open USB IO Controller Command Line with usage
