Add the jaunty CD as repository by synaptic. Then try to install wvdial from command prompt $ sudo apt-get install wvdial wvdialconf If the package is in the CD it will seek the CD and If inserted it will be installed If the package is not in the CD it will try to connect Ubuntu repository server
