I re-installed Gutsy one week ago in my Intel845 machine with only one
hard disk and let Gutsy to be my only OS,in these days ,this bug has
not re -occurred.I have not changed the usplash.conf file ,because the
1280*1024 setting is correct.

I have finally found out the problem. This was a Dell Bios problem. Dell
upgraded the bios version originally 1.3.0, 1.7.0, 1.8.0 and than 1.9.0.
the bios are available from dell inspiron 531 download sight. the
original bios 1.3.0 is a Microsoft version that is reinstallable by
running from vista
The awn-manager works out of the box with the live CD, so yes. It must
be a svg problem.
Perhaps it's time for a clean install. One can hope the process of
setting up 64bit Ubuntu has gotten a lot easier since Feisty.

I doubt it makes a lot of difference, but just to be thorough, try putting the
ec_intr=0 before ro splash.
That's what is working for me. You also might want to consider moving to
64-bit, as this fix is definitely working
with it, and S1 suspend works in 64-bit as well.

I have reinstalled b43-fwcutter and still have the wlan0_rename. Should
i reinstall the b43 driver also?

You can try it in a Kubuntu clean installation. I never make dist-upgrades
because they are not very stables.
The problem persist on Kubuntu 7.10 too.

The package that had warned DO NOT INSTALL ON A REAL SYSTEM EVER was mentioned.
release-upgrade-apt was in synaptic, but it wasn't installed.
release-upgrade-dpkg wasn't there. ( I know better now than to get the bright
idea to do install THAT.) Sources
