alongside the installation progress bar in Ubiquity (the Live CD

categories and products on the Ubuntu store redirect me to a login,
and then once I'm logged in, It still redirects me to login...
It's very perculiar. Anyone else experiencing this?

Isso não é tão verdade. Era até algum tempo atrás. Hoje as distribuições já

Use o avidemux, tem uma opção Append que é uma maravilha.
Por PADRÃO ele vem com suporte de 4GB, quem falou o contrário se enganou.

Juntar AVI e WMV voce não pode usar o copiar, você só pode usar 'copy'
quando os formatos envolvidos são iguais. O 'copy' é para juntar sem
ter que reescrever o formato e leva uns 2 segundos.

Exatamente, PODE ser usado mais de 4 GB mas precisa recompilar o kernel.

Talvez WMV seja o problema, experimenta converte-lo para avi (xvid) e
depois fazer o merge entre todos já em avi.

Eu procurei por isto há uma ou duas semanas e encontrei recuperadores
para ext2.
As palavras chave que usei na busca foram recuperação de arquivos linux,
rescue, restore, undelete... acessei uns 50 sites com 2 ou 3 resultados
para ext2.

A versão nova do metacity que está presente neste Ubuntu hardy heron
tem composite, mas as anteriores não.
Eu experimentei o novo metacity no ubuntu anterior, tinha alguns bugs.
Acho que já devem ter resolvido.
Na realidade usar compositing é um recurso muito melhor aproveiitado
para quem tem
