Hello I am a User Interface developer. In at least two websites, I use
wmode=transparent. Is there no way to fix the problem in Ubuntu?
I'm using Firefox for Ubuntu 8.0.4. It's just sad to see so many bugs. I don't
know how to fix these bugs yet.

The system is still running edgy without problem. I tried installing
Xbuntu Hardy Heron from CD and that too had no mouse control. I
replaced the bus mouse with a serial mouse on coms 1 followed by coms 2
still no luck. This is an older system with an Asus socket 7 and an AMD
K6-2+ at 450Mhz.

As far as I know, you need to run update-manager with sudo, so you should use:
sudo update-manager --dist-upgrade

'rm -r .gnochm' does not reproduce.
Supressing completely gnochm and python-chm and then reinstalling did not help

Agora já instalei sem /boot.
Mas eu sempre fiz swap na lógicA.
E o que me garante que eu poderia colocar o /boot numa lógica?
Esse instalador já vem me dando esse problema desde o 7.10.

Não entendi bem a necessidade que você teria de colocar a pasta /boot em
uma partição... como um colega da lista já avisou, se vc não especificar
a localização dela, ela será criada dentro

This thing needs to be fixed, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but with
increased cpu usage, the cpu temperature goes up as well... Please find a
solution!

Everything described here is common to my installation of 8.04 KDE4 as
well.
I did a fresh install and received No command argument supplied[-u runs]
