Probably! Let's discuss that with whoever is relevant internally.
Of course, should any of you already know some corporate/professional
users of Ubuntu, please do loop them in to this discussion already!

Hi Phillip!
I remember that release party 10 years ago as well!
That is great news!
Wiki page tracking the event suggestions is updated.

The 26th of Jan works for me as well.
I was thinking more or starting with an informal "let's meet up and have a
couple of beers" instead of a "session" with an agenda etc... We barely
know each other at this point :)
But of course if people are motivated to get an agenda going for the 26th
of
Hi list,
I'd like to start thinking about organising a "release party" for
18.04 "Bionic Beaver" as it's the next LTS and is the next big date
for Ubuntu.
Hopefully that will allow us to meet again in person since it seems
that doesn't happen very often anymore these days. I think more than 4

Since that seems to either be invalid or non-public, would any of you
have the kindness of posting the date and time to this list?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks Myriam - I didn't realize there was no public process (only
community council).
Then I guess my subscription was useless :) But thanks anyway.

I think it's quite clear - the LoCo leadership now offers the
possibility for Sub-LoCos to exist, but it does not seem the majority
of the Swiss Team think it's useful.
Therefore, case closed, and status quo :)
It's nice to see some activity on this list though :)

Hi all,
The LoCo council announced the support for SubLoCos [1].
It seems this would mean we could finally find a suitable structure
for the ubuntu-ch LoCo, with one sub LoCo for the Swiss-German part,
and one for the French part (and of course one for out
Italian-speaking friends should anybody
Good point, unfortunately.
I wondered if perhaps the language barrier was part of that decrease.
I don't live in Switzerland this year, so I'm a little out of touch
with the local linux people/talks, I thought that would be the reason.
At least, somebody answered my email :)

On Wed,
I guess it doesn't matter much, both use pretty strong encryption by default.
Since I can't remember exactly how the home-only encryption works , I
would venture a guess to say that it's just a little less secure since
swap is not encrypted (as far as I remember, again), so one could
Hi Marcus,
Thanks for sharing the information! Do you have a date (or a set of
dates) already?

Nice to see preinstalled Ubuntu on decent computers in Switzerland!
Thanks for the initiative!
Do you plan to provide tower computers too? I am in the market for
one at the moment, and would love to avoid the MS tax, as well as
shipping costs if possible (system76 is a bit far).
Cheers

When will the Swiss Parliament start discussing these issue - nobody knows -
but lobbying is very active to avoid these sensitive topics to emerge to the
public.

Hi all,
Our IRC channel's title is embarassingly out of date.
Since I'm pretty much the only one always online there, could I be made a
chanop of #ubuntu-ch on Freenode? That would allow me to make the channel a
little more up to date, and kick eventual spammers/trolls.
Let me know if you need
Hi all,
If I must, I will step up, but it would be a bit sad and weird that
the main contact for the LoCo team (a community group) also is a
Canonical employee...
I guess both hats are strange to wear at the same time.
I am ready to offer as much help as I can to whoever steps up, on the

Awesome! We definitely need to catch up for a beer at least!
The loco has been pretty quiet these days, hopefully we can get some people
to join!
I will be sprinting with my team in Barcelona from the 15 to the 21, but
apart from that I would be available anytime to talk about my work on

I will add myself to the regional contact list as soon as possible.
Also, I now am a Canonical employee, so
