I can confirm this problem on Karmic. After a while playing videos they start
to lock up. I'm running an up to date Karmic with x-updates ppa. I have a Intel
GM965 graphics card, usually used in extened desktop setup (VGA LVDS as one
big desktop).
Adding hpet=disable to the kernel seems to
Disabling hpet (and using acpi_pm) didn't solve my video lockups. I
don't have the CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns messages anymore and
no other messages but video still hangs after a while.

After upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04, I get errors from apparmor when
loading profiles. There was an old bug about this, #138954, with same
behaviour, but it has status fixed. Relevant information is below.
