I have a AOA 150 Acer Aspire ONE and the right flash card reader does
not work. I am running Ubuntu 10.04LTS which uses GRUB2 and ext4 file
system, 1.5GB RAM. I had the same problem with 9.04 and I was able to
correct using the patch to the grub conf file. But now I am using GRUB2

after upgrading to ubuntu 10.4 my sd card reader will not work. Using
an Acer Aspire ONE (AOA-150) with two SD card readers. With 9.10 the
left worked fine upon upgrade, but the right one did not. I had to
tweak the system to make it work. Now with the upgrade to 10.04LTS
I just upgraded my Acer Netbook to 10.04LTS and neither of my SD card
readers work. With 9.10 the left worked at upgrade and after some
tweaks the right side SD was made to work.

installed GDebi Package Installer from the Add/Remove Applications menu.
Then down load to your desktop the patch.
Open the patch with GDebi Package installer. (right click on the file on
your desktop, it should default to open

Goto Preferences - startup programs
Add 2 new entries:
1. /usr/bin/gnome-panel
2. /usr/bin/gnome-wm

Mine cleared up after shutting down and rebooting. The event has not
reoccurred since.
Maybe your problem will be solved by a shutdown and reboot. By the way
I shut down for the night and rebooted in the morning, which put 10
hours between.

in the left slot on boot-up then the left slot will recognize card and
allow removal and it will still recognize it upon reinsertion. The

Finally, everything loaded and what did the trick is that a new version
of Firefox was loaded in. Firefox 3.0.10. Originally the upgrade was
loading 3.0.9 which was broken or broken in my machine.

I have encountered the same problem as the original, but my menu was ok
for awhile (minutes). The applications disappeared when I was trying to

I have the logon sound, but no other from music sources or web sources.
This netbook is using Intel sound chips. My desktop with Jaunty has
good sound, but it is using AMD.
I have checked all the sound channels. Can not get the test tone to
work using Auto or ALSA, but do get a test tone on

I marked 2.6.27.11 for re-installation and then applied. I then
rebooted and it booted into 2.6.27.11. So the re-install worked.

Thanks for the suggestion, it was right-on as a a solution to fix my
computer.

I have this problem with my laptop, but it is intermittent, most of the
time it will shut down ok by occassionally it will not completely
shutdown, it is as if the CPU is shut down but the screen backlight
stays on along with the wifi LED.

and neither would mount the floppy drive and the light stayed on all the

Occasionally the panel icons will not work. I mean when I click on a
minimized application, it will not open. Also the
Applications,Places,System will not open either. Both the right panel
