The problem is that this version breaks one of Rails's servers. Mongrel does not run correctly unless ruby is at 1.8.6. Mongrel keeps trying to patch Ruby because of the version problem. On my Ubuntu system, that patch is not working correctly, and I am not able to serve my Rails application.
