think I read that I have to use bigger encrypted swap partition (not
file) and that it needs to have user-entered password. Don't think I

so i now have to either revert this commit and compile myself or switch
to a proper desktop environment, it also makes it that much harder to
write cross platform gtk applications since statusicon is what windows
and most other desktop environments support.

to be fair, its not asking for additional work, merely to keep the
existing work active, the default of only whitelisting java and wine
keeps the same experience unless the user explicitly overrides it, and
those overrides are staying in hard-coded form.

Same problem here, upgrades Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 last week:
- /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon using 100% CPU after
back from screen-saver
- Keyboard NumLock blinking very fast
- If kill the gnome-settings-daemon if came back and if screen-saver runs again
the bug
I'm currently running the latest nvidia drivers (290.10) from the nvidia
site. The problem still occurs in gnome shell and unity 2d, in fact it
even happened when I tried KDE desktop :S

I recently got to the point where my machine was crashing every 20mins
or so. I've changed the wifi card and now it's stable again so this no

Yes it does still happen. It's got a bit better at times and others a
little worse. Generally it's fairly stable now until the graphics mode
switches (i.e. between normal usage and black screen idle time). I can
recover from it by changing the resolution to something and back again
or logging
Unfortunately I don't have a spare machine and I need this one for work
so I'm wary of doing something so risky :(

Yes, I just downloaded and installed transmission and set a torrent
going, 3 minutes later a total freeze.
Oddly I've noticed that it takes longer to freeze if I'm actively using
my machine (maybe 20-30 mins) than when I'm leaving it idle (3-4 mins)

I'm not sure how it got resolved. I update all the time so maybe an update
fixed it?
Alternatively two things I did were to:
- enable deleting things without going to trash
- cleared out the content of the physical trash ~/.local/share/Trash/files
Anyway, it now
I can't really think of anything else to write other than what I wrote in the
description at the top.
Could you let me know what details you think are useful and I'll dig them out?
My primary hard disk is a 500Gb ATA drive using Ext4 (v1.0) file system
