Hi back, recently my kernel got upgraded so I lost the patch and when
I open the lid I have to do the VT switch trick.
But now I noticed that it does not always work, because sometimes when
I switch to the VT, Xorg crashes and I obtain a .crash report.
Should I attach it here, file a new bug, or
Ok, I will wait for a fix, then test again the Xorg problem.
In the mean time is there any possibility to disable screen blaking on
lid close?

and it feels that the PC is unresponsive for 4-5
This issue seems really similar to one that appeared las year, and was
caused by starting Xorg and a VT on the same console.

I'm experiencing the same bug.
I have a very similar locale as Ondřej Surý, that is LANG,LANGUAGE and
LC_MESSAGES set to en_US.UTF-8, but others set to my locale it_IT.UTF-8.

It would be useful to see the transfer progress in the indicator application:
- change the icon when the overall progress reaches some predetermined state
(20%, 40%, 60%, ...)
- add the overall progress as a tooltip
- add each action progress

I have to confirm: I have downloaded from the mainline kernel archive
2.6.31.11 and booted it. It has no problems.
I have also tried 2.6.33rc3, 2.6.32.3 and 2.6.32.0, but they are the same
I also discovered that when the bug occurs, Xorg is at 99% of cpu.
Killing xorg fixes the problem. So I'll
dmesg with drm debug = 1 after (only the lid has been opened)

If this is the wanted behavior, please make it available also after the
login, and not only if you close empathy. in this way it is more
coherent.
