I have changed the gnome settings to blank instead of suspend and I have
also tried adjusted logind.conf to HandleLidSwitch=ignore
I have been using Evolution exclusively since 2008. Love it, though I have
no business requirement for encryption so I haven't tried that

local repo. The only machine that moves from LTS is generally my laptop.
However, I wonder, aside from the DE, since we just pull from Ubuntu Main,
the core still receives the updates to be on the level with
contributors( tech and non-tech alike) are welcomed and respected. This has
great appeal and sows the seeds for long-term growth and stability.

I cant speak for the group, but my personal opinion is that to reduce
maintenance complexity, it seems logical to limit the number of moving
parts. If the desktop has some major problem, it becomes a more difficult
task to track down which (if any) extension has caused the problem
