I can confirm that adding # defoptions=vga=791 quiet splash and
reconfiguring the kernel package worked, although the text is too little
(compared to default resolution in dapper or without usplash running).

This box is an athlon64 3000+, with a sata HD. When I initially
installed ubuntu (breezy) I set up LVM and eventually upgraded to

If i change to metacity, and put a window on top of the rest, then replace
metacity with compiz, the window will keep itself on top of the rest, but I

I've managed to enter by booting into single mode. Here's the
/var/log/dmesg from the amd64 knotcd3 kernel with parameters: single
apic=verbose.
For the record, I must say that since my delete key wasn't properly
mapped in single mode it was a quite a pain, even for this little task.

I've tried this on another pc, trying both cd drives it has, with both
isos burned on diferent cd's. I really think this is not a HW bug, but
I'll wait until someone else can confirm it.

Hi
I'm posting here the steps to reproduce the bug in case anyone wants to
give this bug a go.
1. Go to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/bonecho/all-beta.html and download the
linux i686 package.
2. install it (aka extract it anywhere).
[3. go to that directory and run it from the cli:
I can set html file to open with firefox beta, but the .desktop files
still open ubuntu's firefox. On a related note, if I have firefox 2
already loaded .desktop links open correctly.

Hi daniel!
I'm using dapper up to date.
I have another machine and I can ssh into it with both the cli client
and nautilus, but on my nokia 770 I can't:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnomevfs-ls ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
Error opening: Acceso denegado
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've straced the gnomevfs-ls command, maybe you can see something I'm

how do I debug gnome's nautilus syscalls? If I launch strace nautilus I
only get the starting output, once nautilus is loaded there's no more
output.
I think the problems has to do with how nautilus is sending the password
since it keeps asking for it until I get tired (so I assume it receiving

I've just downloaded firefox beta 2 and want to use it as my main
browser, so I've installed it in /opt/firefox/
Then, in gnome prefered applications settings I've changed to path to my
browser so every gnome app uses firefox 2, but the url's are still
launching firefox

This could be easy solved since the package contains some .xpm files:

I can't access my nokia 770 dropbear ssh server with nautilus, but I can
from the cli. nautilus keep's asking for the 'user' account password. On
the cli I can:

I'm using dapper. Deskbar applet includes an option to use firefox
quicksearches, but it only loads the ones it finds in your .mozilla
folder in your home folder. It should also look for globally installed
i.e. ones found in the folder /usr/share/firefox/searchplugins/
