Which assertion message string do you mean? abort() does not take any
arguments, it's more ore less just a kill -ABRT to itself. With the
current kernel interface we cannot get any output from the crashed
process anyway, but if this was changed in glibc, it could be changed in
a way that useful inf

I was testing my hibernation on the system, this must have been
coincidentaly related to this error, since firefox now worked in all
cases, via panel link and via command line

I'm going to ignore SIGQUIT core dumps in apport, but it would be nice
if the kernel would not call the crashdump helper and dump core for
SIGQUIT in the first place, so that we do not waste the resources.

After the last update in the Edgy repositories, including the

Tested on current Dapper build latest update, Tilda opens fine when
using repository version.
More information would be useful. Especially whether you are building
from source and if you are fully updated. Steps to replicate would be
useful otherwise.

Lukas, Jon, can you tell how you connected your printer to your computer
(USB, parallel, ethernet, ...)?
If your printer is on the parallel port, have it turned on while booting
and run
cat /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport*/autoprobe*
If you do not have output, do (printer must be connected and tur
xmms backtrace.
faad2 is a common link, so maybe this should go there.

I tried to access some MP3s shared on a Windows computer with Itunes and the

This just happened to me while upgrading from 5.10 to 6.06LTS
The symbolic link trick described by Douglas Green did the job for me.
It turned out that after upgrading /usr/X11R6/bin/X was pointing at /usr/bin/X
(in stead of /usr/bin/Xorg) and /usr/bin/X was pointing back at /usr/X11R6/bin/X

I'm not actually sure on that. I've been running AIGLX for a long time.
But I did run XGL/Compiz when it first was released, and I don't recall
for sure, but I don't think that it exhibited the same symptoms.
But I do think that it's a compiz problem anyway. The scroll icon does
not leave a trai

Again.
This bug remains in Dapper Drake and for servers without graphical interface is
impossible to use pt_BR.UTF-8 and be able to type accentuated characters at the
console. Changing the LANG variable to pt_BR using the ISO-8859-1 charset works.

I tried that before, and I couldn't get it to print the test page. But
now, manually adding the printer with the suggested driver works.
No auto detection though.
(side note: the printer has been auto detected fine in all releases of
ubuntu since warty)
