As the discussion and tests in bug #66104 shows, what Wenzhuo
experienced is a probably a well known (at least among input method
people) bug. This bug usually shows up when user uses XIM (therefore
using other GTK or Qt IM module seems to make this bug disappear), and
is not restricted in GNOME.
I get this on the ATI on my MacBookPro 15 as well.

That typo is present in both Dapper and Edgy. Interestingly, there is
a Debian bug about it, but it was closed and marked fixed in March 2006
in a version older than the one we have in Edgy. So it seems that the

Well, the only way I was able to find resolution on this problem was to
do the following:
1. Found the script that was throwing the errors. In my case it was:

2. Backed up the file and then commented out the parts that were causing

I can confirm kaz' observation just above: I can install with the 16 Oct
Daily build liveCD, but the system freezes once it's been booted (an
ardous process in itself, with manual grub'ing (see bug 7)).
Errors are :

After last updates of fontconfig, OOo and Xorg the issue is less
obvious, retreats a little bit but it's still present. Fonts in UI are
fine now (for me) but ithere are still some artifacts on some fonts on

Thanks, I didn't know that. That still leaves the problem that when you
download the source from the author's website the resulting executable
won't run when you are using gcc-4.0 on a Debian based system.

I don't think it has to do with my mouse either. I have tried it with
both my cheepo gaming mouse, and my fancy mighty mouse. Booth at USB
and are not in a hub, they are connected strait to the computer.

In the morning, every morning, I have to unplug and plugin my mouse at after my
first boot in the day.
After that... if I ever do a warm boot, It works fine...
If I try to test it and do a cold boot durring the day after having run the
system in the morning, it still works.
