I couldn't find the reason for such failure, as other SSL requests
worked flawlessly

I would recommend this bug be raised to at least High priority.
A good friend of mine recently had this problem and we were almost at
the point of formatting reinstalling the system, until I happened to
remember hearing about this bug on the Ubuntu forums.
To fix this bug, we installed a free ext
The error messages on install are harmless, really, the fix here on a
packaging level would be to hide them, and upstream the fix should be to
be a bit smarter about how the DB is created/converted.

Thank you for your kind response. I ordered a Ubuntu
cd from ubuntu shipit and will try that one. Hopefully
it won't take too long to get here. Again, thank you.

Looks like they already figured it out, but anyways, can you post your
patch at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135997

Hi Alex;
I don't know if you saw my comment or not.
I tried digg.com out with the same version of FF out on my windows xp
box at work. I did not get any slowness, nor did I get any
interruption in other programs while browsing digg.com.
I also downloaded Opera for linux onto my Ubuntu box.
Can you still reproduce at all? (e.g. without using -safe-mode ) ?
Anyway, I guess we will have to take a look at the crash report you
provided too before we can go on.

There is something in the FF & Ubuntu combination.

Code independent of apt-file and bash was invoking /bin/sh on a script
which sourced /etc/bash_completions, so I don't think either of those
packages is at fault here. I've fixed this locally (to use /bin/bash
instead) in the offending code and don't see the problem anymore.
