Ok, the freezes were happening way too frequently (couple times a day)
and would nearly always cause filesystem problems that needed to be
fixed (due to having to do a hard-power off each time). I couldn't risk
running 7.04 anymore went and installed 6.10 64bit version a couple days

I have now fixed the problem.
I first tried renaming my .openoffice2 directory in case there was a
problem with the settings. OO.org still crashed when using the Mail
Merge Wizard.
I then tried purging openoffice.org-writer in Adept, deleting the
,openoffice2 directory, then reinstalling openoffi
Confirmed. Removing openswan fixes it. Thanks!

Some progress, but no solution yet.
I tried to make a workaround by manually adjusting /etc/default/acpi-
support. I have managed to get rid of the "root hub lost power or was
reset" error messages in dmesg, but so far the devices themselves don't
work as the USB hubs themselves still seem to be

I have also just discovered that this script is missing when I was
trying to follow an SSL tutorial. For people who want quick SSL setup,
this script was great! A real certificate is best, but if you don't

Tried experimenting with adding "hid" to MODULES in /etc/default/acpi-
support. No luck with that either. However, I did notice the following
changes in output of lsusb in before/after suspend/resume:

Oh, the point of the above lsusb info is that the hub itself doesn't

I have the same issue on standard Ubuntu. it is that after unmounting the PQI
and Sandisk sticks keep their LED on on Linux while both do switch off the
light on WIndows. The Swissbit stick switches the LED off on both OS.
As others already mentioned, there is no performance problem or data loss

Hlavne pozor na to ze ty 2 slova znamenaji neco jineho. Nesvobodny =
spatna licence, ale klidne jsou zdrojove kody k dispozici (cast nvidia
driveru napr.). Zato uzavreny = non-opensource, cili bez zdrojoveho
kodu. Preklad je tedy dle me spravne.

Looks like 2.6.22 kernel (available in gutsy at the moment) handles it much
better. I started with cable unplugged, so with 2.6.20-15 if I plug cable I
should reinsert the module. Now module works fine. I see link messages in
syslog.

Update: another user with a fresh gnome environment does not suffer the same
problem. I think something of my .gnome* settings are messed up (though I
didn't do anything special). I copied my home directory from a edgy
installation on my old notebook.
