Yes, except that I did not experience any network connection issue like
there. So... I am not sure.
Anyway, since then I purged Avahi from my laptop -- given that I float
around on cellular, hotel, and public wireless, I really do not want
Avahi broadcast/discover... so it is gone , and I cannot

nature through forums, launchpad or otherwise. I'll leave the bug
assigned as incomplete to see if anyone else comes forward for the
issue, though should we have nothing in a day or so; the bug may need to

This is likely to be a permission problem. Many filesystems commonly
used on flash drives (like vfat) do not have support for file
permission/ownership themselves. On modern distributions like Ubuntu,
fake permissions are put on top of these filesystems in such a way that
normal users have read
I eventually manually upgraded from the command line (changed repos and
did dist-upgrade and upgrade until it was done). This caused an
exciting moment when it dropped out with dpkg errors because the root
partition had become mounted read only. I remounted rw, and it finished
up fine. System
I can confirm this behaviour. The details button seems to be completely
ignored. I tried running adept_installer from the command line to catch
any output but there isn't any.

That is encouraging to hear that the issue may have been resolved in the newer
kernels. The fact that it seems to only occur with the sound chips using
snd-hda-intel drivers might point to the kernel, on the other hand flash is the
only piece of software that triggers crashes on my
Ths 20070621 level is proving to be pretty shaky and erratic. Let me try
downloading tomorrow's daily build to see if it's running better.

I was having the same problem, running with `gdmflexiserver -n -l`.
I removed Network Manager from the GNOME Session for that user, and the
problem went away.

1. Log in as test1 in an XNest session.
2. Start Tomboy.
