Still not fixed for nvidia cards. I am using nvidia-glx-new and latest
gutsy compiz. I am experiencing the same problems as described above.

kernel, so I don't understand how it disappeared from /boot.
Also, if you only had 2.6.20-15, you were not up to date in Feisty.

2. I installed CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor Gnome applet and found out that my
processor is working at 50% of its maximum frequency.

I have deactivated animations plugin and the problem still happens. I think
that it's a problem with intel driver. Maybe a conflict with power management
system because most of troubles happens after a period of time without user
interaction.

For those of you who are annoyed, there's a panel applet to control
the brightness that updates the setting correctly, unlike the Fn key
function. It's the next most convenient way to control the
brightness, with the other option being to change it in the
gnome-power-manager preferences dialog.
