I think this is a duplicate of bug 124406, but if not, I'm confirming it
on a fresh install of kubuntu hardy. Both problems occur here -

As far as i know Kubuntu Hardy heron uses Pulseaudio instead of alsa for
sound driver. I also have the same problem as Vytas has. Only sound on
one side, and when i use the balance in the mixer program or in Amarok,
the sound disappears completly and won't come back

I just upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 with the effect that I could not sudo
any more (unable to resolve host name)
the problem is that my sysadmin had advised me to remove the line
127.0.1.1 myhostname
from /etc/hosts a couple of days before the upgrade. When I put it back
in, sudo worked

Same issue as the one above, got a cx2735m Gateway TPC, used to work in
Gutsy but no longer in Hardy. xinput test TOUCHSCREEN, does respond as
long as no FPIT driver is installed, after compiling and installing, X
server crashes, sometimes it even restarts the machine.

Even my trick of unloading ehci_hcd upon suspend doesn't seem to
suppress the problem reliably. My Dock's USB ports are totally
unusable! Very frustrating.
