The issue is related to the Windows manager. Currently I am using
Compiz. With Focus Prevention Level set to Off, there is no problem.

It doesn't work - the problem persists. When resuming from hibernate the
second or third time (2 or 3 times hibernated after a real reboot) I
can't use the nic and have to swtich to wireless. It's very annoying!

My fix was pushed out too late. (Along with a new version) The offending
icon was ultimately removed in 4.1.85-0ubuntu2, so this shouldn't be an
issue any more after you upgrade your current versions. It probably will
always be an issue for lower versions, so you'll need to do the force-

A friend of mine has a Asus M51SE laptop shipped with 4 GB of RAM. It has a
video card with 256 MB of video RAM (see the attached dmesg.log).
The problem is that the prefetchable 256 MB of video memory are not assigned
nowhere, even if the memory range [c000:cfff]
when my newly installed linux mint refused to boot most times and dropped to
initramfs-shell i tried every solution i found, like rebuilding initramfs, etc.
but nothing worked.
now i found the solution for me:
i changed back the kernel parameters in grub's menu.lst.
i think, i switched the

Here comes the patch. Just append it to arch/x86/pci/fixup.c
Once you have compiled your kernel with the fix, add asus-m51se-pci-quirk to
the kernel boot arguments to activate.

Fails to detect laptop flatpanel
Hi,
I solved the problem by making a new user. I am not so sure about updating
gnome from a previous version, but I still have the older user on the system,
so I will try your solution.
