I don't really know where exactly this should be reported, but i don't think
here is the right one to get answered. a few suggestions :

It was the /etc/init.d/pulseaudio, which terminated because of a missing
feature --dissalow-exit.
But I also found out that the daemon does not solve the problem. By
using the console and alsamixer -c1, I can configure my sound, so it
seems it it a mixer_applet2 bug.

The output is OK. Your installed SpliX driver is OK. It is the latest

I can confirm that this seems fixed in compat wireless (I tested
2009-01-17)
Stock 2.6.28-4 kernel down 1.2 MB/s up 250 kb/s
with compat-wireless down 1.4 MB/s up 1.6 MB/s
These speeds are now back to what I had with Hardy - let's hope it gets
in to Jaunty :)

I forgot to mention, I tried with the 2009-01-07 version as Hotdog003
had and I too had the problem with not connecting to my WPA2 network, so
didn't test.. 2009-01-17 works perfectly with my WPA2 network.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 8.10 x64.
Using OSS works fine but Anything else generates silence or crackling.
Sound used to work fine with default settings. I don't know what changed,
perhaps a recent update.
