workaround that works at the moment is to unload and reload the wireless

Hmm.. I have two mistakes in my proposed package:
1. I shouldn't be using --fail-missing - it doesn't work anyway, but dh_install
--fail-missing doesn't work with cdbs packages (they use dh_install -ppackage
I think).
2. I should use the patch that fixes the cast-align error:

I see identical behaviour on both the .31 and .30 kernels. The

Since I upgraded to linux kernel 2.6.24-24, I can't start Gnome using
that kernel version. The only way is to start the 2.6.24-23 kernel, then
everything works as usual. In 2.6.24-24, after I enter my username and
password, I just see a white screen and the mouse pointer.
