@hasi, this was working when I installed Alpha 4, it is a regression. I
had to wait for years for desktop effects to work on Intel cards, it
absoultely should work correctly. Suspend probably will work without
effects, but I want them on, and this was working perfectly before some
update broke it.
My remark was directed to shadowfoxx as the current ver in ubuntu's
repos doesnt seem to be 1.21.. I cant find a clear cut guide to manual
updates or a deb so I'm just waiting it out. My assumption was that he
used outside means to update and as such things can go wrong and/or

Create a file (with your favorite plain-text editor, and root permissions) in
/etc/modprobe.d/. Call it blacklist-intel.conf and copy/paste the following two
lines:
blacklist i915
blacklist intel_agp
Now, run:
sudo update-initramfs -u
--
2.6.31 kernels autoload i915
This seems to based on a crash of "file manager". Every time I log
out/shutdown "file manager" is shown as not responding.

applications (widgets) are no longer running: kmix and knetworkmanager.
They can easily be restarted manually. However, this should be ironed
out before release.
I am not sure if this is related to the behavior described here or if
