Yes, that does work. I've retested the camera several ways after reading
your idea and the current state of affairs is below:
-camera plugged in while booting: works
-camera plugged in after logging into GNOME: works
-camera plugged in while booting, unplugging camera, and re-connecting
looks like an issue with my custom rolled kernel. Works okay in the
stock karmic kernel. Sorry.

Using an upgraded Karmic RC on a MSI Wind U100, the screen flickers too after
login.
Only thing that helps is killing gnome-power.manager and starting it again.
This is a serious bug - Ubuntu is very unusable for the average user of

I consider my hunch of yesterday morning to be now substantiated. The
benefits of blocking Adobe Flash make a difference as drastic as night
and day.
My current uptime is trivial: only 36 hours, but for the last several
months, my KDE session would by now long since have become unusable on

I had the Error 15 message after upgrading to 9.10.
In my configuration, the boot dir has its own partition.
The grub config expect the kernel and the initramdisk to be loaded from
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic and /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-14-generic.
However those files are located in the
Gutsy is no longer supported and I didn't have the time to work on a fix in
time.

I can see the same bug. You need to turn off screen's folding of long
lines, typically by pressing C-a r, then it's trivially reproducable.
You can get rid of it again by pressing C-a r. It looks like something

I can confirm this bug on a newly installed Netbook Remix 9.10 RC. With
SD card mounted, closing the lid powers off display, but system never
suspends. Displays powers on when lifting lid, but the keyboard and

Similar to #424257, I am unable to boot the amd64 version of Ubuntu 9.10
Karmic Koala live cd. The 32 bit works fine.
I expect at least some console output after removing both quiet and
splash from the boot line, however I receive none.

network-manager seems to be disconnecting my wifi link very often,
(every 2 minutes or so). When looking at iwevent output this seems to

As long as the Ubuntu packages change the settings in many packages from
their upstream defaults (e.g., Firefox, everything with a Tools -
Preferences, etc.) why not change the gconf setting to make this
reasonable and consistent as well?
