I found a simple work around this. Installing the earcandy volume
manager took care of the seven second delay, and even provides a nice
fade in, making things easier on the ear.

With the updated gtk package from the ppa all the crashing I saw before
seems to have vanished, further stress testing needed naturally but so
far so good. The only problem I've experienced is that now gdm takes
forever and a day to come up, so long in fact that I thought X died.

Konrad, this is not a Tomboy bug, it is an Ubuntu One bug. Adding a
warning in Tomboy wouldn't make any sense because it would only apply to
people using web sync with U1, and Rodrigo will be fixing it soon

Hey that worked with a few alterations.
I also had to install the following packages:
libstdc++5 from Jaunty:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gcc-3.3/libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_i386.deb
"Dummy" package for libcupsys2

Hey, that's really a great strategy to company success! - After a bug
report, just wait some years until the system is out of support:

Wait, no.
That patch is correct if you run gksu from a terminal.
If it's started from a .desktop file (sabayon's .desktop's command is
"gksu sabayon") it doesn't pop up with anything.
Still stumped... but the above patch gets us closer, I think

It does not apply cleanly against the mplayer in Jaunty.

I am also having this problem. I remember that there's a trick to this,
but I thought it involved changing the last option in the config (allow
implicit changes). Apparently I was wrong. It seems totem-xine resets
the config file by design and I think there is some way one can convince
totem-xine t

Okay I added Linux to affected projects.
If anyone knows a better way to direct this to someone who can get a fix
in route? I am pretty new to this bug reporting.
I know this is a big problem for a lot of people. And it would be great
if a fix can make it into the next release.

I recently updated my 9.10 kernel 2.6.28.11 to 2.6.31-16 - 17 whenever i
try to boot with that kernel it detects the hardisk but doesnt boot to
the login screen. Instead it just shows the ubuntu login symbol and
quits.
