OK, after the clarifications from Isaac Bowen and olofsj, things are
working acceptably for the Fn+hotkey adjustment of the brightness.
It seems what I was seeing was that hidden setting of the gnome-power-
manager mentioned by olofsj. Without the acpi_osi=Linux boot option,

I've helped each of you guys either manually fix this bug, or upgrade to
the PPA packages where I fixed it in the packaging.

The draggable area is actually a pretty nice feature. I think if it can
be preserved, it should, but the scrollbar on the right should certainly

I'm not as enraged as others here, but I agree with Yannick. If we had a
debconf based base configuration for cn=config, and removed it, then it
should be put back in. Clearly having it would be less problematic for
most users than not having it.

On e.g. a Windows system it is usually possible to view BIOS information
(firmware version, serial number, etc) in the system info / properties.
sysinfo does not show this information.
