For me this problem also still occurs, giving the traceback on the
terminal from which I have started system-config-printer and an
incomplete list of detected network printers. I am using the -0ubuntu6

I have updated my alsamixer and pulseaudio with the Ubuntu Audio Dev
team PPA, currently I have:

AlsaMixer v1.0.20
Now the volume knob works (weirdly enough there is now no volume in
alsamixer that is controlled by the knob, and only one output volume

to an external power source (if you're not doing that already?) it looks
like the FW bus is being reset, and so the SCSI layer is creating
