I can confirm that the phison module works again using a 2.6.37-rc3
kernel. A dmesg output looks sane compared to what I got using 2.6.35
and .36-based kernels. Output looks same/similar to what I got under
2.6.34 where the driver worked last time.

I noticed today that I had a bunch of kernels from 10.04 lying around my
/boot. Since it worked perfectly the very day I upgraded (several weeks
ago), I thought maybe going back to an earlier kernel version would do
it. So I added the last 10.04 kernel to grub, boot

kernel (for audio) and updated nvidia-driver (260.19.26 is the first

something wrong with the latencies.
The attached patch disables the special handling of the playthrough case
and uses the user-settable latency for both capture and playback. The

On rebooting another time, and logging in, the screen came up 'properly'
in 1600x1200 mode, with the top panel showing correctly. I've attached

used a minimal config. The install was immediately running very slow,
possibly due to using a qcow disk file and/or not having used any virtio

Thanks Fabio, for attending to this issue. I've been meaning to update
this bug item.
Unfortunately, there's no indication that my upgrade to 10.10 or any
subsequent patch has significantly change my memory usage pattern.
With 8GB installed, I don't notice the problem as quickly. Also, I've
had
the OP's laptop model also has an Ati card and is using the open
drivers.
I suspect most of the Laptops shipped with Ati graphics will have the
same issue.

usb=true" suggested work around does not work with both Ubuntu USB-
Creator & Unetbootin.
