its probably that you dont have the amount of ram needed because things
on ram usually move to swap when they are not being used or there is too
much stuff on ram...also sence it blender 2.4x id recomend trying

I fully agree with you. In gnome-do, I just have to type f and press
enter to open firefox. With unity, I have to type f i r e then
press tab twice and finally press enter to open firefox. It would be

I do get notification of updates. I checked that by reverting a package
(khelpcenter4) to an earlier version. I then got a notification that it
needed to be updated, which is of course the correct effect.
I'm about ready to bypass the problem by downloading the Alternate
Distribution CD and

As per other posters I see the comment No proprietary drivers are in
use on this system. Later in the 'Additional Drivers' dialog it states:
This driver is activated but not currently in use. I don't see the
version it recommends, it simply says: NVIDIA accelerated graphics

Exactly reproduceable here under the same conditions - upgraded from
10.10 to 11.04 2 days ago, and screenshots taken with superbutton1
pick up the blue hightlighting when saved.

Same problem here, altho it doesn't happen at startup, but only when
launching certain applications (for instance, PokerStars via Wine).

To confirm that it is the case, please install the liblircclient-dev
package and see if that solves the issue.

The fix is rather simple: updating the package to a 5.x-version of it,
as Ubuntu uses PHP 5, not 4 (see
http://phppgadmin.sourceforge.net/doku.php?id=gophp5). So to work
around, just install the latest stable version manually.
