In Kmail, I click on a OO attachemnt (spreadsheet, xls, whatever) and a
dialog box opens, asking me if I want to save or open in OpenOffice. I
choose 'Open in Openoffice' and get: the file (some temp file name) does
not exist.
I need to save the attachment first.
Then if I
dpkg -l | grep openoffice | grep kde
doesn't give anything !

In the postinst script, a check is done on
/cdrom/.disk/info
Since I had the cdrom mounted (the Ubuntu Edgy CDROM) it did find that file.
Apparently, ls -1 /cdrom/pool/main/e/edubuntu-artwork/edubuntu-artwork-usplash*
did not work... because it's the ubuntu cd ???

Okay, I should have installed ltsp-server-standalone. But if i had my
dhcp from some other source... then the /etc/ltsp dir would not be made
???
Now I installed ltsp-server-standalone. /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf was made.
I have 2 nic's, so I added one line:
subnet 10.10.10.132 netmask 255.255.255.0
After fixing the stoopid ip addres/netmask error I made in dhcpd.conf,
the thin client boots !
But, the edubuntu splash screen shows, but the progress meter does not
move.
After a while stating at the edubuntu splash screen with no moving
progress bar, a black screen with a X in the middle
I followed

and logged out on the TC (not the server) and logged in again. Same
evolution crash like before, but tadadad... local devices (a USB
stick) worked !

And see that hydrogen has no esd support ?

After a clean install of Edgy, I got stuck with a pc105 keyboard. I
don't know why or what, but after a while I noticed that I couldn't use
the 'p'. After writing several emails to my contacts, with words in them
like 'combuter' and 'cut and baste' I found the answer on IRC

sound and such.
But when clicking on the volume control, an error about not being able

Hi,
after a not-so-good upgrade to 6.10 via dist-upgrade, I am now trying to
reinstall from the liveCD.
I choose manual partitioning.
My /dev/hda1 = 10 GB, will be reformatted as ext3, so far so good.
My /dev/hda4 = 100 GB, is an existing reiserfs and should be mounted as
When installation fails, and above error crops up, you can 'continue' or
'go back'. Botrh have the same effect: the installer exits without
warning.

instance, in Gcompris, each time the 'happy face' shows up, right after
that the happpy face leaves stripes in the area it appeared.

Yes, after restarting the dhcp server, the mouse problem was solved!
However, instead of a splash screen, I get a black screen with a
flickering cursor to the top left... then a black screen with the 'X'
cross (cursor) in the middle... then the login screen.

Film of boot process.
Although not very sharp footage, you can see the mangled gnome splash
screen (just before we get a full screen gnome desktop) and you can see
the long delay at 'black screen wih just an X'.
Also you can hear sounds (I disabled nobeep in esd startup) and you can
see that
Solved after all: a hardware problem. I swappen thin clients and all was
good on the spare one. And on the original one, with a different screen,
kb and mouse, the problem appeared again. So it's hardware.

the mangeld screen depended on a hardware problem;
the mouse works, and the black screen was replaced with a spalsh screen.
I think you can close the bug in an appropriate manner.

When the login screen apperas, you can choose a 'console login' from the
dropdown menu.
You will then be presented with a shell. After login, doing some things
