The problem appears to go away after selecting the proprietary Nvidia
driver instead of the Nouveau driver. So it is at least an interaction
with the Nouveau driver, or possible the bug is in that driver. Should I

simple-scan crashes EPSON Office ADF scanners,
This is still happening on 14.04. I too have multiple monitors, with the
middle one being the main monitor. There have been other programs which
can't cope with that, perhaps it has something to do with this problem
as well?

I tried the latest development release (as of 27-9-2013), but it won't
boot at all on my Optimus laptop, even with no external monitors

The installation of man-db failed when upgrading my Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit
install to 11.04. It hung at "Processing triggers for man-db..." in the
terminal view. I waited for ten minutes, but it did not progress, and
there was no CPU or harddisk activity. I had to kill -9 the man
fixed in 11.10

Is it possible to back port that fix to Natty? Many people are reporting
this problem (it manifests as bullets being shown as infinity symbols in
Evince, for instance), without realising the underlying problem, so it
would be good to fix it for them (without forcing everybody to upgrade
to Oneiric)
I tried to reproduce the problem with the live CD of Oneiric Ocelot, but
since the open source NVidia driver in there does not support multiple
cards, I can't. It also did not allow me to install the proprietary
NVidia driver.
Even if it did, I doubt that I would be able to reproduce the bug since

When the hostname is set incorrectly (to a name which cannot be resolved
to an IP address), sudo sends a "security information" email to root,
which contains gibberish characters. Here are two real-world examples of
the contents of such emails:

@Joshua: I have three screens on two Geforce 8800 GTX cards, and I can
