Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with 9.10 and IBM Thinkpad A31p.
I can boot 2.6.28-14-generic, but it locks the cpu on 2.6.28-15-generic,
2.6.28-16-generic, 2.6.31-14-generic.

Sorry for all that. It works.
I am new to launchpad and when you said released I though it should come with
a normal system update.
I installed the .deb. packages in your message and I now have playback without
any tearing.
Thanks!

This also affects fglrx-installer, although I don't know how to add it
to the affected packages.

sync-to-vblank (bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298264), and I have
temporarily replaced this card with a spare nvidia Ti4200 I had.
I would like to help though. Is it possible to give
