I found a workaround. When the message saying a package can't be installed appears, open a console, chroot /target, and install the package manually (through apt-get install). Then go back to the interface and try again the same step, it will pass. However, this is just a workaround, not a fix.

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xresprobe During gutsy installation, just after xresprobe, the display looked really odd. The installation continued but when the first message appeared, I was not able to read it. Even pressing ALT-F2 to get to the console didn't show a clean console.
