Public bug reported:
I have an HP Pavilion dv9830, which has a network indicator light next to the
network switch (see attached). The light blinks randomly, repeatedly, and in
intervals. It will be blue (indicating wireless is enabled, orange means
disabled) for anywhere from 2-15 seconds, and

UPDATE: This is interesting, I also got it to occur recently upon
pressing CTRL + ALT + BCKSPC, which immediately triggered the same
event. Would this signify that the problem has something to do with X?
I'll try again later today to see if I can duplicate it, I don't want to
do it know and risk
Thanks, it worked!

Sorry SB, how would a person go about editing xorg.conf to use the opensource
driver? (I know what and where it is, I just don't know what to change)
As for Hardware Drivers (jockey-gtk), the only options I see are the 173 and
177 NVIDIA (nonfree) drivers (see screenshot)

I got the first to logs, but I got an error message for the dpkg command (see

I also am a little confused about how to run the automatic configuration
settings script, I'll have to collect the rest manually, but I'll have to do it
later, (I'm going to be out of the house)

This happened to me too. The panel dissapeared, the login sound played,
