Well I upgraded to SUSE 10.1 AMD64 and it is working fine. Therefor the problem is ubuntu specific. Since I am not running ubuntu anymore on a laptop (my mum is still using breezy on a desktop i686 - that one is fine) I can't check it unless I buy a new hdd. Could someone please try booting into
