I am with wxl, I don't remember this ever being the behavior of the
logout screen. I think this is more feature request than a bug. Most
LXDE popups do not close when ESC is pressed.

One thing I observed in testing this on Trusty while in a VM (where the
screen takes longer to refresh), the new terminal appears to open with
its assigned title, but then the title then quickly changes back to
user@host

behavior in a currently supported version of Lubuntu (14.04, 14.10).

I believe you may be right about the duplicate nature this. I am adding
this as a duplicate of fixed bug 1179167, as I cannot reproduce this.

Reading through the comments, it seems that this bug was not
reproduceable and therefore should be closed. In testing, I also find
that this behavior doesn't seem quite like a "crash" so much as
intentionally closing a window where no action can be taken to prevent
other errors.

The Lubuntu team was unable to offer the 12.04 Precise release as a
Long-Term Support release, so support for 12.04 ended in October2013.
