[Bug 72814] Re: Crash at login

2007-06-30 Thread John Clemens
It doesn't appear that this is fixed in gutsy. I just hit it after an upgrade to gutsy from feisty on my (non-altivec) iBook G3 900Mhz: ~$ gstreamer-properties Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal Run 'gstreamer-properties --help' to see a full list of available command line

[Bug 90243] Re: [rt61] Lockups running Feisty on x86-64

2007-04-09 Thread John Clemens
This is still a problem as of 4/9/2007 (kernel 2.6.20-14). I just removed the rt61 card from my system for now, but if it's at all possible at this late date, please do -not- ship feisty with this bug. It's very hard to diagnose ('Everything just stops, except mouse movement!'), and rt61 cards

Core 2 Duo MBP here, same problem. 2.6.20-9 (and previous) worked just fine for me. Any chance we can bump the severity of this bug? The machine will not boot anymore. -- ATA: abnormal status 0x7F on port 0xD407 https://launchpad.net/bugs/84359 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list

[Bug 85943] Re: [apport] Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV while playing a movie in Totem

2007-02-20 Thread John Clemens
Me too. Has happened to me twice now. Both times using totem to play an MP3 stream from the internet. This is on a MacBook Pro, 64-bi,t with ati X1600 and fglrx. I suspect an ATI problem (duh). Steps to reproduce: go to wamu.org, click on 'listen live' and choose the 'mp3' stream. soon

[Bug 83642] fancy isolinux screen on install isos hang xen/kvm HVM guests

2007-02-06 Thread John Clemens
Public bug reported: I'm working with ubuntu on Xen right now, and this is a very bad problem. Both the server and desktop install CD's, for both dapper and edgy, use fancy full screen (vbe based?) isolinux install screens. Could we please do away with these screens on the server or alternate

[Bug 47513] Re: After hibernation, powernowd only controls one CPU

2006-10-25 Thread John Clemens
If you're using powernowd, you should be using the userspace governor, not the ondemand one. powernowd will automatically set this when starting up, which is why restarting powernowd solves the problems you are all seeing. When the system goes to sleep and comes back, apparently the kernel (or

[Bug 47513] Re: After hibernation, powernowd only controls one CPU

2006-10-25 Thread John Clemens
Actually, I'm wrong, it looks like edgy has changed to using the 'ondemand ' governor by default instead of the actual powernowd daemon. So my daemon isn't even running anymore. Still the governor isn't getting restored correctly on both CPUs. this is a kernel and/or ubuntu script problem. Not a
