In karmic beta, in Firefox the arrows for the scrollbar, recent pages
and the search engine chooser do not appear. This happens when using
qtcurve. When I set the GTK+ widget style to Raleigh, the rendering is
fine.

But the strange thing is that I had it working on the same box which it

Since the problem occurs with both "totem" and "VLC", it seems problem lies in
the kernel.
I have just installed "2.6.24-18-generic " kernel update from ubuntu update
manager, and problem still persists!
Hope they resolve the problem soon :)

I now get the splash when I reboot the machine. The link in /etc/alternatives/
to usplash was broken. Fixed that to point to
/usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-ubuntu.so
. The boot usplash problem still remains.
