if I asked nicely, would you be willing to give me a little more help?
I've followed the discussion about bug 178442, and have tried the
suggestions that seemed to fit my situation, without success:
a) #64 (the "correct" version of #63 where the rules file goes in
/etc/udev/rules.d)
I don't remember installing OSS myself manually, but maybe I did while
trying to get sound working & forgot.
Anyway - I now have the creative SB PCI 128 working... however its not
my favourite card, so I am now going to try & get one the others
working, preferably the ICE1712 based one. but at l
you refer me to bug 178442, but that is specifically related to the
ICE1712 chipset cards...
I have also tried these cards and they won't work either: creative SB
PCI128, turtle beach santa cruz, and onboard AC97

I fixed this on my system by
1. downloaded hplip-2.8.10.run
2. sudo mkdir /usr/share/hplip-2.8.10
3. sudo mv ~/hplip-2.8.10.run /usr/share/hplip-2.8.10
4. cd /usr/share/hplip-2.8.10
5. sh hplip-2.8.10.run
6. use default answers for all questions
7, ln -s /usr/share/hplip-2.8.10 /usr/share/hplip

Hi all. I'm running the amd64 version of Gutsy and when I try and
install the package I get an error "package architecture (i386) does not
match system (amd64)". I couldn't see an amd64 version to download, or
maybe I'm misinterpreting the versioning. Is it safe to do a --force-
architecture instal
