they were all expecting to give a username of root and the appropriate
password. To repair, I set user.plugin back to empty for user='root'
and *also* had to set user.password as the upgrade had cleared it.

Hi, I also have the same issue on my eeepc 1225. When Xubuntu 14.10 was release
I upgraded from 14.04 (32 bit).
On 14.04 I did not have this issue; however after the upgrade to 14.10 I also

from 14.04 I cannot get my WIFI to go faster than ~25mbit/sec download

I investigated the problem deeper. The issues occurs on _ALL_
scrennsaver modules. The problem occurs _ONLY_ when the screensaver is
started via timeout. A manually starting (lock screen) does not show the
issue.
When multiple screensavers are running you can also see this on the
monitor.
