Reader. It was showing the status as "Applying changes" for more than
one hour and still showing the progress bar, but not completed. This
halts me to install other app
Same problem happens in Dell Inspiron 1525 with Intel Graphics chipset.

All the steps tried under root login.
I was trying to run a executable file from a USB flash drive on ubuntu 10.10.
Its works fine if i run the same file from the hard drive or the same USB drive
executable works fine in Ubuntu 10.04.
The file is already set to 777 permissio

Changing the software sources of update-manager to choose best server solves
the issue.
Go to System -> Administration -> Update Manager -> Settings -> Ubuntu
Software (First Tab) -> Download from :
Select "Others" and Click "Select Best Server"-> Choose serv
It is directly connected to internet. Not using the CD to install.
And I have tried to upgrade using "update-manager -d" and clicked upgrade and
followed the on screen instructions.

First time i got an error stating "Release notes couldnt be downloaded" and i
clicked upgrade ag
