I am experiencing a similar issue on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS with KDE 4.10
installed and Firefox 20.0a2 (2013-02-10) (Aurora). After a while,
right-click menus and those from extension will just draw a frame
briefly and then disappear. Toggling HW accel in both Firefox, and kwin
din not help. Also,
I can confirm both oddities mentioned here:

LUKS - LVM setup. I believe my issue was caused by a superflous
lvm=/dev/... for each device in /etc/crypttab. That seems to have been

This is likely similar to Bug #295251, but seeing that that one is supposedly
fixed, I'll open a new bug report.
The brightness control on this laptop does not work (Fn+Up / Down) and produces
e008 / e009 scancodes.
Manually adding those through

Indeed, my setup I like this:
~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces

Well, uncommenting the last line in /etc/network/interfaces now maes the old
behaviour work again.
~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces

Mhmhm, I am at 1:10.04ubuntu23, but the graphical prompt does not show up.
Instead the textual LUKS prompt shows. When shutting down, however,
Plymouth properly shows the splash screen.

Mhmmmhhm, I am at 1:10.04ubuntu23, but the splash screen does not show,
but I am rather greeted with a textual LUKS prompt.
The shutdown animation of Plymouth is played properly, though.
