Ubuntu doesn't provide \EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI for UEFI systems

That's what happens. No boot, no nothing. Ever. Black screen. No way to get to
a grub menu or command line.
The only way I can get my computer to boot is with a usb key, after going into
bios to set it to boot with that.
So that's what I do, then re-install the entire system.

I have two nearly identical Lenovo tablets.
The older one is running in 64-bit but has no uefi bootloader or capability.
This machine works flawlessly with the 9 and 10 kernels.
However, my new X230 with uefi does not boot, into either the 9 or the 10
kernels.

When invoking synaptic from terminal, this warning pops up several times.
It does not appear to affect the running of synaptic, as far as I can tell.

I have a computer that I use unplugged quite a bit, and like the back-light
setting to be low.

Since updates of about 24-Jan-2003, there is no icon on the launchpad to
show four desktops, and CTL-ALT-Arrow does not change the desktop.
There also seems to be no way to get this behavior back in System

The pen input in Xournal is very erratic with my Lenovo multitouch screens.
When I start it's okay but then suddenly the pen puts in lines when it's not
even near the screen. Then it "freezes" in pen mode and I can't do any mouse
functions.
