I installed 17.10 on my SSD and have in total 4 Ubuntu partitions (2 on
hard drive and 2 on SSD). With the install, as best I can recall,
everything was fine and I could boot both partitions on the SSD. I then
updated Grub using Grub Customizer. The menu still shows 4 options for
boot, but the
Thanks for your suggestion. I backed up everything first; and executed the
command
"bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi"
I set the bios to use secure boot and everything works. I get the grub2 menu
and can choose to start either Ubuntu or Windows.

Thanks for your explanation. I am satisfied with the way my system
works now. I get the grub menu and can start either Ubuntu or Windows.
I do not have the secure boot, but I never had it in previous systems.
Is there really any advantage of having secure boot?
When I press F12, the Bios shows
Public bug reported:

This bug is a lot worse in Ubuntu 12.04 with Hugin. When you try to
align images using the assistant there is not even any error message to
give a hint of the problem. It just comes back with the message

I have seen the same behavior (I haven't checked CPU usage). About Firefox
shows:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042523
Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.0.10
My computer specs are:
Grafik: NVIDIA® GeForce® 8100, max. 512 MB shared Memory, VGA, DVI, DirectX® 10
Yes the behavior is still happening with the final release of 9.04.
I upgraded from 8.10 about a week ago. I believe this is the final release.
In the Xorg.0.log I find:
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.24-15-server x86_64 Ubuntu
Current Operating System: Linux ted-NewComputer
The upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04 stopped with 3 minutes remaining. I could
not do anything in the upgrade so tried restart could not restart Ubuntu
GUI (just a brown screen with no icons). I am new to Ubuntu and had no
idea what to do but somehow got to a terminal screen and found a repair
menu.
