Why do i not feel the warnings are enough?
for one, because users who download VIA bittorrent will never see those
warnings, and like somebody above noted, not all testers know for
certain the hardware they are running. Simply saying "if your computer
breaks, tough luck, we warned you" will not ga

you can configure the boot options by pressing escape at the grub count
down, pressing "e" to enter the edit mode, then edit what you wish. Pressing
"b" when you are done will boot the kernel with your modified options. That
should at least get you to the installer.

I can confirm this bug, however, following the suggestion to modify the
udev rules resulted in a DIFFERENT 3rd networking device.
On my Vaio VGN C240E (intel 3945 wireless), iwconfig displays the following;

lono wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wifi0
well i do have wireless... just 802.1x, and i need WPA2 enterprise
support.
anyways, I have compiled kernels before, I just didn't expect to have
the free time to do this, or the free time to fix something if i borked
it.

also, i can confirm that i was able to boot by removing the battery and
unplugging for several seconds.
it would appear the issue is centred on the battery/battery bay.

I can confirm this, as it just happened to me. I am also running Ubuntu
Edgy, with banshee 0.11.1 packaged version. I am sorry I didn't save the
crash info for you guys, but it did say "SQL logic error or missing
database." However, my database is fine upon next load.
