And I cannot copy files to the storage (USB memory stick) because of some
permissions if I use dolphin.
The mount point (/media/disk) has been given the group ownership to root but
this should not prevent me from copying files there.

I would say that the "fixes" Guillaume suggets should be actually called bug
workarounds.
The default AdBlock definition file loaded into konqueror had both the bang
lines and the "[Adblock Plus" header.

I have a new PC, with SATA controller (JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller (rev
02)) and drive (Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00).
The CPU is a Core 2 Duo, that is an "amd64" family CPU and the distribution is
Gutsy up-to-date. Well, the hdparm says:

Up tp date Ubuntu Gutsy (final) on IA-32 (T2400) still has the same problem.
You have to manually load the module first, then you can run the microcode.ctl

Someone will fix somewhere in the future.
The problem is here since months now and has not been fixed in Gutsy either.
I'm actually thinking to move to another distro just for this. Not the bug, the
carelessness.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd focus resources in kernel issues like this one rather
than,
When I request to remove the network-manager packages, adept will also remove
knetworkmanager and network-manager-kde which
seems to be the be the very same packages as far as versioning is concerned.
But the first one is claimed to be a mere 40KB download, while the second one
is 2.1MB.

Some more details.
First.
The problem seems to arise actually from the interaction between
KNetworkManager (front end) and the NetworkManager
(back end).
The CPU goes 100% when KNetworkManager is not running or has been
killed/closed. This seems to be "fixed" by restarting the KNetworkManager as

But I still cannot see the friendly icon in the tray showing the connection
details.

Well, but after all, after the re-installation the /etc/postgresql/ directory
is missing.
I would expect it to be either kept after an unistall+install or recreated from
scratch after a purge+install.
Or am I missing something else?

After the upgrade to KDE 3.5.8, the systemsettings program is failing to launch.
If I run it from the commandline I get this:
