still. Now with Ubuntu Natty the workaroud by Cris does not work
anymore. If anyone find a new solution post it here, so I can test
before changing PC or just for the others(if by the time of reply I have
already sold my Hp

imac. I will try ubuntu there, but i won´t be able to help with this

but I´m not sure if it is the computer cooler fan or the cd drive. I got

mode enters, things which I do not verified in previous ubuntu versions

I tried, just in case, to install the video driver ubuntu way now, above
the manual nvidia driver install and custom xorg.conf. It worked! I find
strange which now it worked and before not, but anyway, the custom xorg
file above was changed by the ubuntu jockey, but it is working normally,
perfect

some details thought:
1-using nomodeset I could actually see what I was doing
2-text mode with network, failed me(3G usb minimodem), I just mounted my
windows partition, which had the linux nvidia driver

I can´t give X or kernel logs, as I can´t even acess ubuntu in any
graphic way. It seems the HP touchsmart video card isn´t properly
recognized by ubuntu(or linux, i don´t know). I asked if there isn´t
other way to help without having to enter ubuntu for such.

except a black screen at ubuntu, about step 2...well...I got the same

Yes, have tested with the 32-bits version already. I only recall which I
haven´t tested lucid x64, but with my conection speed this image would
take 2 or 3 days do download. One of the guys of the bug I mentioned

Hello, The above computer has a GeForce GT 230 video card and is x64.
I tried installing ubuntu maverick and lucid, but they showed a distorted
initial screen(the one with only the acessibility symbol and the the keyboard

After I installed the latest NVIDIA proprietary drivers for Geforce 9500
GT ubuntu loading screen resolution dropped a lot( like if screen size
was 800 x 600 ), after ubuntu loads, the screen return to its correct
size, which is 1400x900.

Hey first it is felipemoraes =], second, thanks for answering.
When you turn on your computer with ubuntu and vista, it show you some
computer info then it goes to grub, and from there ubuntu is started in
10 seconds or by you. All that is in command line.

its frustating to wait so much time, but its allrighr, i know there are
plenty of bug out here altready and few man to handle them. I wanted to

strange, now audio isnt muted at start session anymore. It is using the
last audio volume i set in last session as it was expected to do. Now
everything is working.

Just to experiment I created another folder and filled it with svgs to
see until which point nautilus could handle. Here after 3 svgs nautilus
says it is processing something, but it is pratically frozen for a lot
of minutes. It is it, nautilus is processing the svgs, but very slowly,

Nautilus does not really crash, but it freezes, maybe gdb only detects
crashs, but freezed programs arent recognized as bug? I think nautilus
is working, processing the svgs thumbs, but at turtle speed, which isnt
good and need to be fixed if other people have the same problem.
