Changed to works for me. I had installed 4.18.0-15.16 from the -proposed
repo prior to #19, but a search of kern.log shows that I apparently
failed to select it on boot for some inexplicable reason.

this patch. The patch removes --update from both branches of the if-

The suggested fix and the currently applied fix differ in one important
aspect: The --update option has been dropped.
tldr: Unless --update is broken (and it doesn't appear to be), it should
be included in the fix as it reduces run time quite significantly.

I'm affected by this bug as well. It does NOT appear to happen unless my
computer has been "inactive" (screensaver, at least).
I have not been able to replicate the "tab" requirements. That is, I
have experienced the bug without tabbing between fields.
For some reason, opening Ubuntu's "Keyboard
I find all the i915 references a bit confusing, considering that the
graphics core is a GMA 4500MHD (mobile version of the GMA X4500). The
GMA 4500 is architecturally completely different than the i915 and the
